The Queen City Sisters are so named after the city of Charlotte in Mecklenburg county. The name comes from Queen Charlotte Sophia Of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. This name was given to our wonderful city at the time it was named back in 1768. Making it one of the very first cities to ever have the nick name “QUEEN CITY.”
Since then the Queen City has lived up to it’s name, more so today because of the skyline. If you look at it you will begin to notice that many of the buildings in our “uptown” have what appear to be crowns on top of them. Also Charlotte is one of the largest banking capitals in the United States.
But enough about our name, how did we come about? That is a great question. Charlotte is a diverse community, with people from all walks of life. It was only a matter of time before the city was in need of something new, something bigger than it, something to bring it together. Sister Raven B’Yotch from the Smokn’ Cardinal Sisters reached to to several of us here in Charlotte. She wanted to help bring the Sisters to our area. So the call went out to find people in our community who may be interested in forming a Sister group here in Charlotte.
November 21st, 2016 we had our call with the UNPC to move from Aspirant house to Mission. Our prayers were answered when it was announced we would be elevating to MISSION STATUS. We moved up along with our sisters in Asheville (the Beer City Sisters) to our new status.
